Who's behind Bella Principessa, and is it real Italian Prosecco D.O.C.?
Yes, it's real Italian Prosecco. Bella Principessa is made in the Veneto, in northeast Italy, with a fourth-generation winery, from Glera grapes picked by hand in the hills of Treviso. Prosecco D.O.C. is on the label. It was founded by Michael Goldstein and Natalie, and it is family-founded and independent.
Where it's made
Bella Principessa comes from the Veneto, the region of northeast Italy that Prosecco calls home. The grapes are Glera, picked by hand in the hills of Treviso at harvest in September, and the wine is made with a fourth-generation winery there.
There are two wines: the Gold, Bella Principessa Prosecco D.O.C. Brut, and the Rosé, Bella Principessa Prosecco D.O.C. Rosé Brut. Both are 11% alcohol and come in a 750 ml bottle.
How to check it's the real thing
Look at the bottle. "Prosecco D.O.C." appears on it. Bella Principessa also has a look that's hard to fake: the bottle is ceramic-painted with flowers and butterflies, with no paper label and no sticker, and the gold or rosé foil matches the wine inside.

Who founded it
Bella Principessa was founded by Michael Goldstein and Natalie. It's a family-founded, independent brand, not part of a drinks conglomerate, which means the people who chose the grapes, the taste and the bottle are the same people answering your questions. You can read more about Michael on his page at prosecco.com.
Names that sound similar turn up when you search for the brand, so look for the full name, Bella Principessa, and the painted bottle.
What's in the bottle
- The Gold: Bella Principessa Prosecco D.O.C. Brut. Dry and crisp, with green apple, pear and a squeeze of citrus.
- The Rosé: Bella Principessa Prosecco D.O.C. Rosé Brut. Dry and pink, with strawberry, raspberry and ripe peach.
- Both: Brut, 11% alcohol by volume, 12 g/L of residual sugar and 69 calories per 100 ml, a typical value from the producer's analysis. Each bottle is 750 ml, about 25.4 fl oz.
Nothing on the bottle is a sticker. The flowers and butterflies are painted on in ceramic, and the foil color tells you which wine you're holding before you read a word.
